Sphincter Says What?
I felt my first earthquake last night. What? Yupp, an earthquake. Here is the weird thing. I was watching part of Brett's least favorite movie in the world, Independence Day, last night as I was eating dinner and waiting for him to get home. At the beginning of the movie, when the space ships break through the clouds, it for some reason makes the ground shake and Will Smith's girlfriend thinks it is an earthquake. So when I felt it last night, my immediate thought was, "either that was an earthquake, or the aliens are here". True story.
It was an interesting week. I think it's been more than a week since I posted, but that is as far back as I remember. Part of why I didn't post was it's just been busy, but the other reason is that Brett was out of town this weekend. I always spend a lot of time thinking and planning when I know I am going to have some time to myself, so that has been on my mind a lot! But I didn't want to blog about it for safety reasons - probably not best to broadcast when I am going to be home alone, in case the League of Shadows is waiting for the perfect moment to attack!
Originally, my plans were to spend the night with my friend Jenn on Friday and do some garage sale-ing on Saturday. That all changed Monday night when I got a text from her saying that she was miscarrying... again.
Man.
I just saw her last Saturday. All we talked about was the baby and how things were looking good this time and it wasn't like last time and she was getting close to the safe zone. And then Monday night. Ugh.
To tell you the truth, I was feeling some anger. Anger is not my go-to emotion. It takes so much energy and accomplishes so little... I just don't pull that out of my bag very often. But after pouring my heart out to God Monday night asking for healing and peace for Jenn and her husband, I didn't feel like talking to God for a few days. I know that is immature. And I didn't even make the connection until this morning. I had been shying away from prayer this week and this morning, when it was time to do some serious praying for some friends who are leaving for the mission field on Tuesday, I stepped back and asked myself where the resistance was coming on. The answer hit me hard.
Anyway... I am back to praying for my dear friend. Some questions just don't have answers. Maybe they will be in answered in heaven, maybe not. Sometimes it feels like an answer wouldn't help anyway.
So. My weekend ended up being pretty consumed by the going away party for the friends that I mentioned. But I still made some time for fun on Friday night. I went and ate on the patio at Rosa's. There was a lovely gentle rain falling so I was the only one outside. I got some funny looks, but it was a completely covered patio, and it felt SO good outside! I think I was the smart one there.
After dinner, I went to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and I loved it! It's not for everyone, but I am so happy to say that I liked the film. I will definitely be buying it when it comes out.
At the moment, I am listening to Christmas music and trying not to think about all that I have to do at work this week. I desperately need to start the week with a positive attitude. I need it to be a productive week. We have a staff meeting tomorrow night, and I'm sure it will be good.
I'm kind of wishing I could call a time out, but that is just not an option right now, and I'm kind of embarrassed for even wanting one. I seem to have lost my momentum somewhere. Seen it laying around anywhere? Let me know!

Not The Blog I Want to Write
I'm working towards one of those big posts. Where I have gotten my thoughts organized and have something important to say. But this is not that blog. I'm too sleepy. I'm a little annoyed at how I woke up. I need a clock on my side of the bed again. Maybe I can make that happen today.
Speaking of today, we're going on a picnic =-) We have had some amazing weather in the city of the crooked I this week. Fall is probably not actually here, but we are getting a sneak peak and I love it! My weather widget says the high today is 82. 82!!! And weather.com says 78. It's overcast and breezy... my kind of day!
It was a better week. Other than an odd meltdown Thursday morning, but I will save that for the next post. I finally feel like I am catching up at work. My house is a mess, but work is getting better. I brought a few things home to do this weekend and I think that will make a big difference. I'm ready to not feel behind at work. If I can book all of our theater field trips, I would feel MUUUUUCH better.
Water aerobics is still going well. It really is fun. This past Thursday was the first time that I didn't enjoy it 100%. I was so tired, and Laura wasn't there. I just wanted to get through it. But I did and felt better for it. I had a good loss this week. I'm definitely making progress. They still aren't numbers that I enjoy seeing, but I am moving in the right direction. I think I am even noticing a difference in a couple of outfits. My denim crops definitely feel looser and I wore a dress on Thursday that I tripped on twice. It's long, but I have never tripped on it before. Makes me think it might be looser too. Or maybe I was just crazy tired. haha.
There is a weekend coming up where Brett will be out of town. He is meeting his guys for a weekend of fun! A homeboy reunion, if you will. I'm SO happy that it looks like it is going to work out. They have been trying to plan a weekend like this for quite some time. But it is getting closer, so I am starting to formalize my plans for that weekend. Our Sunday school class has plans for Friday night but Saturday is all mine. There is a movie that I want to see, but I may try to spend some time with my niece. She just got back from Disney World and I want to hear all about it! Or if she has a soccer game, I am DEFINITELY going!
I hope everyone has a nice weekend. Hope the weather is breezy where you are =-)

Well, Dang
It's been too long since my last blog. Again. It's just been so busy around here! Mostly good busy. Some less good, work related busy. There have been plenty of blog worthy good times lately, but the busy is making me so tired! As is the Tylenol PM I took about 30 minutes ago, since I can't find our non PM medicine bottle. I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow =-)
Labor Day weekend was awesome! I hope everyone else had a great weekend too. We went to Tulsa to visit my life long friend, Jeff. He is the coolest and I am so happy that he is still in our life, even though he moved five hours away. Tulsa is a really neat little city. It has a lot to offer in a fairly small space. Beautiful homes, cool shops and tons of mom and pop restaurants.
We got there late Friday night, stayed up talking til 2 am and then slept until 8:30 on Saturday. Nice =-) We started our day at an awesome restaurant where my omelet and biscuit were so good that I am still wishing I had just one more bite! And then we spent the day doing what is one of my all time favorite activities: shopping. We went to the flea market and I found some really groovy treasures. Then we went to a really cool re-sale shop called Vintage Stock where Brett found some great deals on items he collects. After a couple of hours of downtime, we grabbed a light dinner and then headed to the drive-in where, for only $6, we saw a double feature of Brave and The Avengers.
We left Sunday morning so we could be home all day Monday. That's how I like my 3 day weekends!
This week has been crazy, but we made it through. It ended with a Ranger watching party at our house, with our Sunday School class. It was a little stressful to get ready for the party, but it was the perfect way to end the week. Just laughing with friends.
Today has been so nice. The high today was 88. 88 gorgeous degrees after an entire week of the students not being allowed to go outside in the afternoons because the temperature was over the limit, which is 103.
We slept in, then lounged around a bit and then went for lunch at our favorite restaurant, where we arrived early enough to get a seat outside on the patio. After lunch, I dropped Brett off at work and then began my hunt for curtains. He ended up only working an hour, and then joining me on my hunt. I am still without curtains, but after 4 hours of curtain hunting, I came home with a red shirt from Ross that cost $8.99, an orange and yellow dress from Lane Bryant (no, they don't have curtains, but I stopped in to pay my bill) that cost $12.99, Beatles Lego mini-figures from Target that cost $9.99, a ring from some store in Grapevine Mills Mall whose name I can't remember, that had the letter B scrabble block on it (B for Brett!) for $4.95, and the Gandolf, Gimli and Dobby mini figures key chains for $5 each. I love everything I got today, but I sure wish I had found some curtains!
Tomorrow will be a full day, but a good one =-) I'm off to snuggle with Brett before the Tylenol PM has me drooling into my pillow.
